- Click START and in RUN enter CMD and press Enter
- Now press Control-Alt-Delete to bring up Task Manager
- Click on the Processes tab
- Find 'explorer.exe' in the lefthand column
- Right click on it and select end process
- Your desktop will now dissapear except for the command window you opened earlier
- Using this command window and DOS commands, navigate to the folder containing the file you wish to remove and delete it.
- Commands to use include "CD\" to move to the root folder.
- Then "CD\foldername\foldername" to move forward to a named directory.
- Then "DEL filename" to remove the file ensuring that you use the full filename including the extension. eg del filename.exe or del filename.jpg
- Press Control-Alt-Delete once more
- Click on FILE and select New Task
- Enter 'explorer.exe' and press enter.
- The desktop will reappear.
